Samsung offers a new leasing scheme for printers in the UK

Samsung launched a 0% financing scheme for participating Samsung resellers in the UK and Ireland. The offer is available from the beginning of June and the company plans to spread the initiative in other European countries.

Representatives of the company stated that the new leasing scheme will make Samsung printing technology more affordable and accessible to business customers. Neil Sawyer, head of marketing, Samsung's European printing operation, said that printing represents the largest proportion of IT expenses and is a business process that companies often seek to address as part of a wider cost reduction exercise. He also added: “Printing technologies from Samsung make it easy for businesses to control printing costs at the same time as enhancing employee productivity with more efficient printing processes. However, budget limitations can mean that money isn’t always available to invest in new technology when companies need it most. The introduction of the Samsung 0% finance program makes our printer technology more affordable and accessible to businesses at the right time".

The finance program is offered through Rabobank Group, a global provider of leasing, business and consumer finance solutions with a proven track record in the IT sector. The offer, which is valid until 31st May 2010, is available for printers from Samsung’s business product portfolio.

Samsung launches program to combat toner cartridge counterfeiting

Samsung Electronics America has announced this week the success of a program designed to help protect customers and resellers from counterfeit laser cartridges, part of a worldwide anti-counterfeiting effort by Samsung that uses security features and experienced investigators and prosecutors to identify and indict those engaged in the manufacture and distribution of imitation product.

Since 2008, this effort has resulted in at least 13 seizures of cartridges, components, supplies and equipment that have a collective retail value exceeding $3 million. Efforts have netted over 30,000 cartridges and components found in the United States, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

As the company states, the effort seeks to protect customers from the poor print quality, short cartridge life spans, toner leakages and printer failures associated with counterfeit product, which ultimately leads to higher printing and maintenance costs.

New laser printers from Samsung

Samsung launched a new laser printer: Samsung ML-2855ND, which offers output speed of 30 pages per minute, helped by a 400MHz processor and 64MB expandable to 192MB of memory. The recommended market price of the printer is $358. The new printer is a compact device having built-in duplex printing and a TonerSave feature to cut its total cost of operation. It also has a USB 2.0 interface and 250-sheet cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose paper tray. It is designed to produce 50,000 pages per month.

Samsung announces its leading positions in world sales of laser printers

Representatives of Samsung Electronics in South Asia announced their company jumped to the leading position in the global rankings of color MFU sales. The research company IDC adds up to this statement saying Samsung color laser MFUs took up to 30% of all sales in this segment during the second quarter of 2008. According to IDC’s calculations over 29% of sales of color laser MFUs in Europe are Samsung printing devices.

Besides color laser multifunctionals Samsung keeps being the second after HP in the segment of one-function color laser printers. Samsung printers take up to 20% of the world market of color printers. Sales of color printers jumped suddenly in Germany, UK and CIS countries in 2007-2008, which is due, as Samsung states, to the advertising campaign during Euro’08 in Austria and Switzerland.

Samsung scandal

Corruption has always haunted South Korea. But now the country’s most resprected company and its president Roh Moo Hyun are engulfed in scandal. On Nov. 14. three liberal parties in Korea proposed a bill in Parliament, which requires an independent prosecutor to probe allegations of bribery by Samsung. Samsung is accused of regular bribes to government officials. Samsung denies all charges.
